Our goal is to create the best and purest products. We therefore use the environmentally-friendly retort process. By extracting gas, acids, and tar during carbonization, all that remains in the retorts is charcoal with a very high carbon content. The separated extracts are cleaned and passed through a complex process to form high-quality products such as acetic acid, creosote, breeze and proFagus Pure Smoke®.

Since time immemorial, smoke from hardwoods has been used to refine the taste of food, whether meat or fish, and to improve its storability. Today, where millions of people demand this pleasure, the sole use of smoke would make the production more expensive and would represent an enormous impact on the environment. Industrial smoke flavorings are used here. They off all the advantages of smoke without its undesirable side-effects.
The quality charcoal has a wide range of applications, especially in industry. A classic area of use, for example, is its use as a reducing and covering carbon for the melting of metals (copper, silicon, zinc, and others).
High-purity quality acetic acid is used in many areas. For its manufacture, the gas streams produced during the wood charring are condensed and are processed in a multi-step cleaning process to form a chemically high-purity acetic acid quality.
Beechwood tar from proFagus has been processed for many decades to produce all kinds of different products. Thanks to the unique manufacturing process, the composition of our beechwood tar is unique and is made up of more than 200 substances.
