What does homeland mean?
Is it the cheerful “hello” over the neighbor’s garden fence? Is it grandma’s warm cake, which tastes as if the apples had fallen directly from the tree onto the baking tray? Is it the dense forest you wandered through with your dad as a child? Or the noise of lawnmowers on Saturday afternoon, coupled with the smell of sausages on the grill and the roars of “goooal” from your mates? For us at proFagus, homeland (“Heimat”) means a bit of all that: it is the forests and nature in our region, which we want to protect and conserve.
It is the rituals that we celebrate. And the people with whom we do this.
Because a grill is more than a grate. It is the place in which the pleasure can be shared and friendships sealed for decades, the place in which we feel at home. Our charcoal therefore does not come from anywhere, but from our domestic forests …
Why the origin is so important to us? Because it means that our products are produced sustainably and with a great deal of respect for our planet.
We know the “family tree” of our charcoal!
We opt for the high quality of beechwood for the manufacture of our charcoal products. Yet not a single extra tree is felled for us.
This is because we source our wood from the thinning of sustainably managed German forests, all of which are certified. In addition, we use untreated residual wood from the wood-based panel industry, which cannot be used there.
We have always not only advocated for resource-efficient production but also actively meet our responsibility still further. The protection and forestation of our domestic forests and woodlands is a matter particularly close to our heart.
We at proFagus are not willing to simply sit back and watch, we want to do something, and actively support the environment.
Because love of the homeland can also protect the rainforest. Did you know that imported and discounter charcoal frequently contains tropical wood, which is acquired by overfelling and illegal forest clearances? The environmental damage is also felt by us.
Our love for the homeland has roots. They reach back to 1896.
We have been producing charcoal in Bodenfelde since then. We are passionately committed to our location.
For us, responsibility for the region means more than environmental protection. Our 160 employees and their families are just as important to us. They are the heart of the company.
Unlike charcoal importers, we will continue to produce our products here in Germany according to the local employment and environmental standard in the future too. Because the protection of people and nature cannot be offset against a few cents per bag.
Homeland to go. These are our premium grilling charcoal products: “Grown up” here in our forests. Converted and bagged here in Bodenfelde:
Wherever you grill with them, it tastes a bit like homeland.
